IRWM Plans
Kaweah River Basin IRWM
The Kaweah River Basin Integrated Regional Water Management (KIRWM) group, established in 2007, is a collaborative effort to manage all aspects of water resources in the Kaweah River Basin Region. There are many agencies and stakeholders involved in the IRWM, including the Kaweah Delta Water Conservation District, County of Tulare, Exeter Irrigation District, Lakeside Irrigation District, Tulare Irrigation District and the cities of Visalia, Tulare, and Lindsay. The Kaweah IRWM group meets monthly to evaluate how the water in the region can best be managed as well as discuss future projects for grant applications. Projects must conform to the group’s objectives, which include groundwater management, water supply, water quality, flood control, and ecosystem restoration.
The Kaweah IRWM group is in the process of updating their Integrated Regional Water Management Plan per the Department of Water Resources guidelines and look to have an approved plan in place within the next two years. While this Plan is still being written, this IRWM group has submitted an application for partial funding from a Prop 84 Planning Grant which would allow for each of the eight signatory participants as well as the non-signatory participants in the IRWM group to continue the monthly meetings that are currently in place.

Kings Basin Water Authority
The Kings Basin IRWMP includes a combination of projects to improve the way water is managed for the future. Additional proposals identified in the plan include storm water projects, water banking projects, parkway projects and surface water treatment projects. These projects have been proposed as partnerships between member irrigation districts, cities, counties and environmental organizations.
Since the early 2000s, the Kings Basin Water Authority has received nearly $29 million in state financial support for use toward planning activities and to construct projects that address groundwater, water conservation and efficiency, water quality, riparian habitat, flood corridors, and disadvantaged communities. The projects are located throughout the basin.
The vision of the Authority is a sustainable supply of the Kings River Basin's finite surface and groundwater resources through regional planning that is balanced and beneficial for environmental stewardship, overall quality of life, a sustainable economy and adequate resources for future generations.

Kern County IRWM
The Tulare Lake Basin Portion of Kern County Integrated Regional Water Management Plan (Kern IRWMP) is a collaboration of water suppliers, community and government representatives, environmental groups, businesses and a variety of other interested parties. The Kern IRWMP seeks to preserve the economic and environmental health of Kern County communities through comprehensive and efficient management of its water resources.

Poso Creek IRWM
The Poso Creek Regional Water Management Group (RWMG) comprises six agricultural districts and one resource conservation district listed below.
The RWMG adopted the Poso Creek Integrated Regional Water Management Plan (Poso Creek IRWMP) in July 2007.

Southern Sierra IRWM

The Southern Sierra Regional Water Management Group (SSRWMG), a group of diverse stakeholder interests, formed in 2008 to take a collaborative, integrated approach to managing the region’s water resources with regard to sustaining the splendor of its natural resources and the quality and quantity of water downstream. The SSRWMG is the governing body responsible for implementing the Southern Sierra Integrated Regional Water Management Plan (SSIRWMP).
The SSIRWMP is the first integrated planning effort in the Southern Sierra region. The SSIRWMP is a voluntary, non-regulatory planning document that identifies broadly-supported water management goals and objectives that provide a framework within which to address issues such as water supply, water quality, habitat and environment, recreation, and land use.
